Taking risks & breaking rules

Danielle

When Danielle Sweeney started coaching with me, she had a comfortable and sort of conventional life. She was a Canadian living in Amsterdam because she’d followed her husband’s career, but their marriage was ending and she wanted to focus finally on building her own life and her own business.

Fueled by the support of friends she made in the CF Coaching program (who she’d never met in person!), and strengthened by the vision she’d created for herself through the work, Danielle decided to move with her daughter back to Canada. (Quel courage!)

She expanded her boutique calligraphy business to include ownership of a stationery and print shop, and bought her own house. She and her ex are together creating a new version of their family that is values-based and supportive for all. How’s THAT for reinvention and blowing the lid off all expectations??

One-on-one with Danielle

Why did you decide to join the CF Coaching program? What was going on in your life at the time?

I joined Catherine’s program after circling her newsletter for more than a year. I was at a turning point in my life, although I didn’t know it at the time.

I was living in Europe, having moved there with my family from Australia, and was starting to set up my business again, finding my feet in a new country. I knew something was shifting in me, but was unable to find the root of those shifts, and to be honest, even if I had, I’m not sure I would have been able to navigate them honestly on my own.

And so, after a third newsletter spoke directly to me, I booked a call with Catherine and so began my coaching journey.

Can you describe the impact of the program and what you learned from it?

The impact of Catherine’s program has been profound. My life has changed dramatically since I started coaching in June 2019 in ways too numerous to mention but include financial stability, a beautiful home, and incredible relationships with my loved ones, including my former husband.

The greatest impact has been my ability to understand myself better; to see what drives my behaviour and using the tools Catherine’s method has given me, then make choices that have helped me create the most amazing life.

How did CF’s “Company of Women” impact your life or your experience of the coaching experience?

As a former “show pony” people-pleaser, I was worried that my participation in a group program would be superficial and like many courses I had joined before, I would drop out before I completed the program. The exact opposite happened and two and a half years later, I am still an active member of the community.

Through Catherine’s program I met people who I now consider some of my closest friends; colleagues that I am delighted to work with; and Mastermind partners who inspire me daily, and support my growth, both professionally and personally.

CF’s “Company of Women” is a group like no other. It is a community of the most inspiring, brilliant, generous, fun and kind women, who are all in for each other.

Was there ever a moment where you thought “This is IT! This is why I’m taking this program!” An a-ha, or a eureka moment?

Hahahaha… every damn week??? Every one of our group calls sheds new light on something that has come up in my life recently, offering a fresh perspective.

The best example I can think of came in the form of a compliment from the mediator who helped my ex and I navigate our divorce. She said that she had never seen a couple move through as complicated a proceeding as ours with such great care and respect for each other.

Today, he and I are very close and have an excellent co-parenting relationship. I credit this relationship to my learnings from Catherine’s program: understanding how I wanted our family to look and co-creating the outcomes of our divorce and relationship using the tools that I had learned.

Living the Work:

“When I started coaching, I knew that something was missing from my life, but had no idea how to find out what that thing was, or how to attain it. Catherine helped guide me to a place where I not only see my goals with absolute clarity, but I am ticking them off, one after the other, and loving the journey to them.”
